JAMIE TEASDALE FROM GATESHEAD SENTENCED FOR GROOMING AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Jamie Teasdale, a resident of Gateshead, has been sentenced following his efforts to meet a minor for sexual activity and his possession of indecent images of children.Teasdale, who is 28 years old and lives on Sheriffs Highway, made persistent attempts to groom a girl named Chloe, who was actually a decoy profile created by vigilantes from the group Guardians of the North.
He believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl and admitted he would have engaged in sexual activity had she been real.
Throughout his online interactions, Teasdale described Chloe as attractive and asked her for images, maintaining communication over several weeks.
He expressed his desire to meet her in person and suggested starting with "little things" due to her claimed inexperience.
When asked about her sexual background, Teasdale stated that it was an added bonus that she was a child willing to discuss sex.
His intentions to meet her for sexual activity were thwarted when vigilantes detained him, leading to his arrest.
During the investigation, police seized his laptop, revealing over 200 indecent images, including some depicting extremely serious offences such as a girl aged between eight and ten being raped.
Later, around two years after the initial arrest, Teasdale was re-arrested and found to possess a further 12 indecent images.
In September 2018, he also distributed a category B indecent image to a woman via Kik.
He pleaded guilty to several charges: attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, six counts of making indecent images, and one count of distribution of an indecent image.
Judge Keir Monteith QC at Newcastle Crown Court sentenced him to three years in prison, mandated that he sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, and imposed a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
Defence solicitor Jennifer Coxon acknowledged Teasdale's admitted sexual interest in young children.
She mentioned that he previously worked as a bartender, struggled with alcohol and cannabis use, and had casual relationships with adults.
Coxon also highlighted Teasdale's difficulties in caring for his late mother and his recent struggles with depression.
