NORTHAMPTON STALKER JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS AFTER HIDING CAMERA IN FORMER PARTNER'S HOME
A man from Northampton has received a four-year prison sentence after installing a camera in his former partner's residence to record her private conversations.Jamie Robinson, aged 32, was also granted a restraining order that prohibits him from contacting the woman he had stalked over a period of ten years.
He was convicted of multiple offences, including common assault resulting in actual bodily harm and stalking that involved instilling fear of violence in a woman.
These incidents occurred between June and October of the previous year.
During the court proceedings at Northampton Crown Court, it was revealed that Robinson had visited both the victim's home and workplace, and had covertly placed a camera in her house to monitor her interactions.
In one particular incident, he followed the victim to a hotel in Northampton where she was staying with a friend, going so far as to book a room nearby.
PC Thomas Rosignoli, who led the investigation on behalf of Northamptonshire Police’s Domestic Abuse Team, stated: "The woman in this case has shown great bravery in standing up to Robinson and reporting his awful actions to us.
"To hide a camera in someone’s home is a gross invasion of their privacy and the level of stalking involved in this case has thankfully been reflected in the length of the sentence handed out.
"Northamptonshire Police takes all forms of domestic abuse incredibly seriously.
"If you are affected by it, please have confidence in reporting it to us – we will listen, we will believe you, and we will support you throughout our investigation."
