TELFORD SEX OFFENDER JAMIE LOVERIDGE SENTENCED AFTER INVITING UNDERAGE GIRLS INTO HIS BED
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Telford, a young man named Jamie Loveridge has been sentenced to prison after a series of alarming incidents involving underage girls at his shared residence. The events unfolded on the night of July 26 last year, when Loveridge, then 20 years old and residing in Chiltern Gardens, Dawley, attempted to lure a 14-year-old girl into his bed.
The girl, who was under the legal age of consent, refused his advances, but the situation escalated later that evening.
According to court proceedings, Loveridge then extended an invitation to her 15-year-old friend, asking her to share his bed.
It was during this encounter that Loveridge engaged in sexual activity with the older girl, an act that has now led to his conviction.
The two girls had initially asked to stay at Loveridge’s home, claiming they were having a sleepover with their parents unaware of the true circumstances.
They were too frightened to return home that night due to fears of the repercussions if their families discovered what had transpired, and so they remained at Loveridge’s residence until the following morning.
Prosecutor Glyn Samuel detailed the sequence of events to the court, stating, “He said to her it would be better if she slept in his bed.
She did this.
Afterwards she got up and went to the toilet with her friend.
They had no place to go so they just stayed there.” The girls’ decision to stay was driven by fear and uncertainty, and their reluctance to face the consequences of revealing the abuse.
It was only three days later that the victim confided in her parents about what had happened.
However, she initially provided an incorrect date, which allowed Loveridge to establish an alibi and avoid immediate police charges.
It was only after further investigation that the correct date was confirmed.
Authorities examined phone records that proved the girls had been at Loveridge’s home on the night of the incident, solidifying the case against him.
During the trial, Loveridge admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a female under 16 and also acknowledged breaching a sexual offences prevention order, which was related to two previous convictions.
His history of sexual offences against children was a significant factor in the severity of his sentencing.
Judge Peter Barrie expressed grave concern over Loveridge’s repeated offending, stating, “This is the third time you’ve been brought before the courts for sexual offending towards children.
You are only 20 years of age.
That is a cause for great concern.” As a result, Loveridge was sentenced to a total of five years in prison, with two years to be served behind bars and the remaining three on licence.
Additionally, a 10-year restraining order was imposed to prevent him from contacting his victim, and he was placed on the sex offenders register for a decade to monitor his activities and prevent further harm.
