JAMES THROWER OF LEEDS SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL OFFENSES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CRIMES IN WARRINGTON AND LEEDS
In a disturbing series of criminal acts spanning several years, James Thrower, a 42-year-old resident of Leeds, has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses and possession of a vast collection of child abuse images. The gravity of his crimes was laid bare in court proceedings that revealed a pattern of predatory behavior and exploitation.
In September 2015, Thrower faced a sentencing hearing at Chester Crown Court after admitting to two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
These offenses occurred in 2010 in Warrington, where he encouraged a woman to take sleeping tablets before filming himself raping her while she was unconscious.
The victim reportedly woke up during both assaults but was unable to prevent him from continuing.
The court heard that Thrower had recorded these acts, adding a disturbing layer to his misconduct.
Despite the crimes taking place in Warrington, Thrower was residing at the time on Primley Park Lane in Leeds.
Judge Raj Shetty, presiding over the case, expressed his condemnation of Thrower’s actions, stating, “Why you decided these acts were acceptable can only be known by you – even more disturbing is that you were filming yourself.
Your victim states that she is still in complete shock – she is embarrassed and ashamed although she should have no reason to.
History confirms you have a long standing sexual interest in children and you are interested in live sexual assaults – you are dangerous.
Despite being caught doing it once you did it again and it’s clear to me these offences caused severe psychological effects on her.” As a result of these offenses, the court extended Thrower’s sentence by six years, adding to the two-year term he received in January 2015 for possessing nearly 250,000 indecent images of children.
Earlier that same year, in January 2015, Thrower’s criminal activities came to light through a covert police operation.
The Leeds resident was found to have amassed an astonishing 245,805 illegal images of child abuse on his computers and phones, which were seized from his home in Alwoodley, Leeds, on Primley Park Lane.
The investigation was initiated after Thrower engaged in online exchanges with undercover officers, during which he shared sexual fantasies involving children and sent explicit images.
Some of these images were classified among the most severe, depicting adults engaging in sexual acts with minors.
The court was informed that Thrower had a prior caution in 2004 for possessing abusive images, indicating a long-standing pattern of offending behavior.
Thrower pleaded guilty to 21 charges related to possession of indecent images of children.
His defense attorney, Catherine Silverton, expressed remorse on his behalf, stating that Thrower was ashamed of his actions and wished to seek treatment to prevent future offenses.
Despite this, Judge Guy Kearl, QC, sentenced him to two years in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender.
The judge emphasized the broader implications of Thrower’s behavior, remarking, “It is your sort of behaviour that leads to the exploitation of children in this way.
If there was no market then there would be no trade and fewer child victims.” Throughout the proceedings, the court highlighted the dangerous nature of Thrower’s conduct, which not only involved the possession of a massive collection of illegal images but also included direct acts of sexual assault.
His crimes have left a lasting impact on the victims and serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals with such predatory tendencies.
