JAMES SNEDDON OF EAST KILBRIDE SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE
In September 1999, James Sneddon, a 62-year-old from Drury Lane Court, Calderwood, East Kilbride, was sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing children.
Sneddon, who wears dark glasses due to progressing blindness and uses sticks to walk, had gained the trust of a family with two brothers and their sister.
He took them on outings to the seaside, parks, the cinema, and the circus, but his intentions were sinister—seeking sexual contact with the children after their outings.
Temporary Judge Alastair Stewart, QC, described the children's experiences as among the worst he had ever encountered.
The court was told that one of the boys, now 37, who was abused 27 years earlier, harbors such intense hatred for Sneddon that he said he could kill him for what was done to his innocence.
Sneddon pleaded guilty to all charges at the High Court in Glasgow.
