DARLINGTON MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND THREATS TO PARTNER
James Peacock, a 21-year-old resident of Brighton Road, Darlington, has been convicted of assault by beating following a court trial at Teesside Crown Court.
The court heard he previously served two suspended sentences and two conditional discharges, indicating a history of behavioral issues.
Peacock flew into a jealous and violent rage when his partner asked about having friends over her home.
He even involved his mother during an incident where he confronted his partner at her residence, threatening to 'slit her throat'.
Prosecutor Nigel Soppitt described Peacock calling his partner a prostitute and physically assaulting her by nipping her arms and grabbing her shoulder, causing her pain.
The situation worsened when he threatened her life, expressing concern that she might call the police.
Body-worn camera footage captured Peacock making threats to have her killed.
The court noted that the incident occurred just eight days after Peacock received a suspended sentence for participating in a violent altercation in Darlington's Asda store, where he was involved in a four-man fight.
The judge activated part of his suspended sentences and sentenced him to a total of 14 months in custody, emphasizing the need for Peacock to address his anger issues to prevent future offenses.
