JAMES NICHOLAS BRADFORD MAN SENTENCED FOR ONLINE GROOMING AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In a disturbing case that highlights the dangers of online exploitation, James Nicholas, a 49-year-old man from Bradford, has been sentenced to two years in prison for engaging in predatory behavior involving underage girls. The offences, which spanned over seven years, involved Nicholas adopting the guise of a teenage boy to lure and manipulate young girls into sexual activities and to share indecent images.
According to court proceedings, Nicholas, who resides on Pot Lane in Steeton, used online platforms such as Skype and MSN video chat to communicate with girls aged between 13 and 15.
During these interactions, he would encourage them to engage in sexual acts and make inappropriate comments.
Prosecutor Stephen Wood detailed how Nicholas told one girl she “looked hot in her skirt” and expressed regret that she was wearing knickers, implying a desire for her to be more exposed.
Throughout the trial, it was revealed that Nicholas had been actively grooming his victims for years.
His online chat logs, which were recovered during a police raid on April 19, 2015, showed a pattern of manipulative behavior.
When authorities searched his home, they discovered his Apple MacBook Pro and desktop computer containing numerous chat logs, indecent photographs, and videos of children.
The police investigation uncovered that Nicholas had been requesting to see girls’ breasts as early as 2008, with one chat revealing a girl saying she was 15 and Nicholas responding “me 2.” Further conversations indicated that Nicholas lied about his age, claiming to be 16 when a girl told him she was nearly 16, and even joked about being 50 years old, to which he responded that he wished he was, lamenting that he still had his entire working life ahead of him.
He also asked girls to show him their vaginas and breasts, with victims from across the UK and even overseas, including one girl residing in the United States.
In total, Nicholas stored 25 category A images and videos of children, along with additional material categorized as B and C.
One particularly disturbing video depicted a girl aged between 11 and 13 removing her lower clothing to indecently expose herself.
The evidence also showed that Nicholas had groomed some of his victims, lied about his age, and kept the illicit images stored on his computers for years.
Judge Jonathan Gibson sentenced Nicholas to two years in prison, emphasizing the severity of his actions.
Additionally, he imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered Nicholas to register as a sex offender for the same period.
The judge highlighted that Nicholas had posed as a teenage boy, despite being in his forties, and had actively groomed young girls while retaining the exploitative images on his devices, making his case a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by online predators.
