JAMES MURISON FROM HUNTLY SENTENCED FOR ABDUCTING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING 13-YEAR-OLD PAPERGIRL IN ABERDEENSHIRE

In a disturbing incident that took place in the town of Huntly, Aberdeenshire, a man named James Murison was convicted of abducting and attempting to sexually assault a young girl who was just 13 years old at the time. The horrifying events unfolded during her routine newspaper delivery on the morning of January 3rd, when Murison forcibly took her into his residence and subjected her to a series of traumatic acts.

According to court reports, Murison, aged 44, forcibly detained the girl by pulling her into his house, which was located in Huntly. Once inside, he proceeded to make her remove her clothing, then placed a pillowcase over her head to obscure her vision. The girl was then sexually assaulted by Murison, an act that left her physically and emotionally scarred. The police intervened and rescued her after she was reported missing, bringing an end to the ordeal.

During the sentencing at the High Court in Aberdeen, Murison pleaded guilty to assault with intent to rape. The court heard that the abduction and assault occurred in the early hours of that January morning, with Murison's actions described as heinous and predatory. Relatives of the young girl expressed their relief and relief that justice was being served, noting that the girl was present in court to witness her attacker being sentenced. They described her as having handled the traumatic experience with remarkable resilience, despite the emotional toll.

Judge Lord Hodge addressed Murison directly, stating, "You have harmed your victim, who was a child, by your sexual abuse and had the police not rescued her, it is not clear how the incident would have ended." The judge also criticized Murison’s apparent lack of remorse or insight into the damage caused by his actions. As part of his sentence, Murison was sentenced to eight years in prison, with an additional eight years on licence following his release, meaning he will be under supervision for a significant period after serving his custodial term.

The court proceedings revealed the harrowing details of the attack. Murison, who lived alone, seized the girl, forced her into his house, and locked the door behind her. He then took her upstairs, where he compelled her to remove her clothes. Using lengths of thick ribbon, he tied her wrists behind her back and her ankles, effectively restraining her. Despite her repeated pleas and questions about his motives, Murison told her to "shut up" and continued with his assault. He then placed a pillowcase over her head and sexually abused her, removing his own clothing and lying on top of her with the apparent intent to rape her.

The girl, in a state of distress, managed to free one of her hands and then her feet, attempting to escape through the bedroom window while screaming loudly for help. Her screams attracted the attention of nearby residents and alerted the police, who responded swiftly and rescued her from the situation. Murison was arrested at the scene.

During police questioning, Murison was asked about his intentions and how long he planned to keep the girl captive. His chilling response was, "As long as it was possible – for a day." The court heard that the entire ordeal was a substantial trauma for the young girl, with the long-term psychological impact uncertain. Her family expressed their pride in her resilience and their relief that justice had been served, emphasizing the importance of her presence in court to witness the sentencing and to see her attacker held accountable for his actions.
