MAN SENT TO PRISON AFTER HE PLEADED GUILTY TO BREAKING A WOMAN’S JAW.
In the early hours of September 1, an incident occurred involving James Lee Hill at a residence on Wansford Walk, Northampton, where he had a dispute with a man.During the confrontation, a woman tried to intervene, but Hill struck her in the face.
The assault resulted in the woman suffering a broken jaw and the loss of multiple teeth.
A police inquiry was initiated, leading to Hill’s arrest two days later when he was seen attending a separate court case at Northampton Crown Court.
He faced charges of grievous bodily harm under Section 20 for the attack on the woman, and actual bodily harm relating to the altercation with the man.
Hill pleaded guilty to these charges earlier in October at Northampton Crown Court.
On October 9, the court sentenced him to two years and one month behind bars.
A five-year order was also issued to prevent him from making contact.
Police Sergeant Abdul Salique, an investigator from the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, commented: “This was a brutal one-punch assault which resulted in our victim suffering very painful facial injuries that she is still recovering from today.
“I would like to thank both victims, for their support during our investigation, and I hope that the prison sentence handed to Hill provides them with a small sense of comfort and closure.
“In the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, we are passionate about protecting people from this terrible crime and helping them move forward onto brighter things, and I want to reassure our communities that we will continue working hard to ensure more people like James Hill end up behind bars.”
