JAMES JOHNSTONE'S SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN KIRKCALDY REVEALED

A disturbing case involving James Johnstone has come to light, revealing a series of heinous sexual offenses committed in Kirkcaldy. The 64-year-old man was found guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls, with the incidents spanning several years and involving manipulative and predatory behavior.

According to court records, Johnstone’s first known offense occurred on the victim’s 14th birthday. The victim, a teenage girl, was sitting on a sofa with Johnstone when he moved closer to her and placed his arm around her shoulders. Sensing that something was wrong, she instinctively began recording the interaction on Snapchat. During this encounter, Johnstone kissed her without her consent, prompting her to pull away and remind him that she was recording the moment. The video of this incident was later recovered from a folder labeled “my eyes only” on her phone, serving as crucial evidence in the case.

The second victim, also a teenage girl, was subjected to two separate assaults by Johnstone in 2021. The first incident involved him forcing himself into a hug, which she initially thought was harmless. However, just days later, the situation escalated into a more sinister act. The girl explained that she was preparing to take a shower and was looking for a power pack to listen to music when Johnstone approached her. He had taken the power pack and offered it to her in exchange for a hug. Once she agreed, he wrapped his arms around her and then moved his hand between her legs, beginning to rub her. She described her jeans as being relatively thin, which allowed his hand to penetrate her clothing. Despite her protests, with Johnstone saying, “I shouldn’t be touching you like this,” he continued his assault for approximately ten minutes, causing significant distress.

In addition to these incidents, Johnstone admitted to sexually assaulting one girl at an address in Fife in August 2017, and another girl at a different location on two separate occasions in 2021. He also entered a plea of not guilty to further charges involving a third girl, which the Crown accepted. The court proceedings saw Johnstone plead guilty to two counts of sexual assault, with sentencing deferred pending reports. Meanwhile, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community in Kirkcaldy and beyond.
