KIRKCALDY RAPIST SCOTT TOUGH SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS FOR DECADE OF ABUSE IN FIFE AND GLASGOW

A man from Thornton near Kirkcaldy has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after a series of heinous sexual offences that spanned nearly twenty years across the Fife region and beyond.

Scott Tough, aged 48, faced the High Court in Glasgow where he was convicted on multiple charges, including rape and sexual assault. The court's decision came after a thorough examination of evidence and testimonies from his victims, who displayed remarkable bravery in coming forward to share their experiences.

The court proceedings revealed that between the years 2000 and 2019, Tough engaged in a pattern of violent and predatory sexual behaviour. One of his victims was subjected to a brutal rape in Kirkcaldy, where he forcibly grabbed her by the neck at a property, demonstrating a disturbing level of violence and control.

In the year 2019, Tough's criminal activities continued as he raped a second woman multiple times. During these assaults, the victim was in a vulnerable state, unable to give consent, highlighting the predatory nature of his crimes. That same year, he also committed a sexual assault on a third woman, who was similarly incapacitated at the time.

All of these offences took place within the Fife area, specifically in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes, underscoring a troubling pattern of abuse within the local community. The lengthy duration of his offending reflects a disturbing disregard for the safety and dignity of his victims.

Following his conviction, the victims received recognition for their courage in coming forward and providing evidence that was crucial in securing his conviction. The judge sentenced Tough to ten years in prison, marking the conclusion of a long and painful chapter for those affected by his actions.
