JAMES HUSH OF BLACKPOOL JAILED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL SEX OFFENSES AND OBSCENE MATERIALS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Blackpool, Lancashire, James Hush, aged 27, has been sentenced to prison for a series of heinous crimes involving the possession and creation of extremely graphic and illegal sexual material.The court heard that Hush had accumulated a vast collection of offensive images, including those depicting children engaged in sexual acts, as well as disturbing footage involving animals, notably a video showing a woman having sex with a live octopus.
Hush pleaded guilty to possessing these repulsive images during an earlier hearing, acknowledging the severity of the charges.
His criminal record also includes 11 other serious allegations, such as the production and possession of child sexual abuse images and voyeurism, with incidents dating back to between 2013 and 2015.
During the trial at Preston Crown Court, the prosecution revealed that police had discovered a staggering 7,931 images of child sexual abuse on Hush’s laptops.
Among these, 1,167 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe and illegal content.
The investigation uncovered that Hush had used peer-to-peer file-sharing software, which enabled him to download and receive files from various countries across the globe, highlighting the international scope of his activities.
Further evidence presented in court detailed that police had also seized recordings made by Hush, which captured children changing at two different swimming pools.
These recordings raised additional concerns about his predatory behavior and the potential risk posed to minors.
Hush’s arrest took place in April 2015 when police raided his family home.
At the time, he was at work, but upon returning, he was confronted by his mother, which led him to surrender himself to authorities.
The police also executed a subsequent search at a different address linked to Hush in July 2015, uncovering more child abuse images stored on a laptop and a USB device.
During police interviews, Hush admitted that he had filmed children at swimming pools because he claimed a voice in his head told him his life was boring and that he needed to do something exciting.
Despite his pleas of innocence in court, Hush’s actions and the evidence against him painted a clear picture of a man deeply involved in the production and distribution of illegal and disturbing material.
Judge Stuart Baker sentenced Hush to two years and eight months in prison.
In his remarks, the judge emphasized the gravity of the crimes, stating, “While it may not be illegal to produce this material in these countries, it is certainly illegal to view it here.
The more people who look at these images, the more likely it is that those who produce them will continue to do so.” Hush’s family was present during the sentencing, and he interrupted the proceedings to protest his innocence, acknowledging only that he had committed a terrible act but claiming ignorance of the full seriousness of the images.
The judge responded firmly, underscoring the severity of the images, which depicted children subjected to sexual activity of a very serious nature.
As part of his punishment, Hush was also banned from entering any swimming pool in the United Kingdom for a period of ten years, a measure aimed at preventing any potential reoffending involving minors in such environments.
