BLACKBURN PAEDOPHILE TWIN JAILED
THE second of a pair of paedophile identical twins has followed his brother to jail again, after befriending families to get close to their children.James Blackie, 28, has been locked up for two years, after he lied his way into the homes and trust of two families in summer by using a false name.
He regularly babysat their youngsters and looked after three young children more than 20 times, all the while subject to both the Sex Offenders' Register and a 10 year Sexual Offences Prevention Order, banning him from having unsupervised contact with children under 16.
The pervert, a former university student, was caught when one mother found out his real name from his driving licence, searched on the internet and discovered his previous convictions.
Police were called, Burnley Crown Court was told.
Blackie, recently of Reed Street, in the town, was put back behind bars at the crown court, where a judge slammed him as ‘devious and calculating,’ said he had been assessed by the probation service as a very high risk of serious harm to children — and added he agreed.
The defendant had admitted three counts of failing to comply with the register and three of breaching the SOPO and had been committed for sentence by Pennine magistrates.
He was given an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
The court was told Blackie was quick to offer his services as a babysitter.
One of the parents said he felt shocked and angry when he discovered Blackie had lied and the mother of the other children said had she known the truth, she wouldn't have let Blackie anywhere near them.
The defendant and his twin Patrick, both previously of Blackburn, were both placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for internet child porn offences in 2010.
Just weeks ago, in October, Patrick Blackie, of Hope Street, Accrington, was sent down for 12 months for flouting a life-long SOPO.
It had been imposed in September 2011, when he had been jailed for two years and eight months for abducting two children as they played in Burnley.
He committed his most recent offences when he had had a water fight with children, taken pictures of some of them half-naked and they had ended up being shared on the internet.
