BLACKBURN PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR ABDUCTION AND INDECENCY
A paedophile known as James Alexander Warke, aged 36, who resided in the Audley area of Blackburn, was sentenced to ten years in prison for a series of sex offences including the abduction of a 12-year-old boy and indecent assaults on him and other children.Warke, who began offending in Northern Ireland at age 15 and has multiple prior convictions for sex crimes, was found guilty earlier this year at Carlisle Crown Court.
He went on the run with the boy after abducting him earlier this year and was eventually arrested in Worthing after a nationwide police search.
During the trial, Warke admitted to the abduction and was convicted on four counts of gross indecency involving the victim, as well as three counts of gross indecency and one of indecent assault against two other boys.
The court sentenced him to a maximum of seven years for the abduction along with three additional years to run concurrently for the assault, and ordered him to serve an extra three years for crimes involving other children.
The judge described him as 'an addictive and obsessive paedophile' and emphasized the importance of protecting the public from him.
Warke's grooming tactics included enticing boys with sweets, money, and alcohol, and he even sold his possessions to fund trips to the south coast.
He was on license from prison when he committed these offences; he had previously been convicted in 1995 for abducting two teenagers in Blackpool and detained for nine days.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Turner stated that Warke is a career paedophile seeking to indulge his perversions, and expressed the anguish suffered by the victim's family.
Warke was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
