MEN LURED HOMELESS WOMAN TO HOTEL AND CARRIED OUT 'PROLONGED' SEX ATTACK Two men from Birmingham, Matthew Bibb, aged 32, and Jake Johnson, aged 26, have been sentenced for their involvement in a disturbing and relentless sexual assault that occurred in London. The incident took place in the West London area, specifically near Kings Street in Hammersmith, an area known for its vibrant yet sometimes unpredictable urban environment.
The case began when Bibb, who resides on Slingfield Road in Northfield, and Johnson, who was identified as having no fixed address at the time, encountered a vulnerable homeless woman on the street.
The men were purchasing alcoholic beverages nearby their hotel, a common lodging spot in the Hammersmith region, when they noticed the woman.
Seizing what they perceived as an opportunity, they extended an invitation to her, suggesting they would warm up together with a hot drink inside their hotel room.
Given the harsh weather conditions, characterised by cold and persistent rain, the woman accepted their offer, likely believing they intended a benign gesture.
However, what ensued was a horrifying ordeal.
Once inside the hotel, Bibb and Johnson subjected her to a prolonged and violent sexual assault, acts that the police later described as both horrific and degrading.
Their assault did not end until they forcibly expelled her from the premises.
The woman, evidently distressed and shaken, managed to escape and immediately reported the incident.
She informed the hotel management of what had occurred and alerted friends who were present nearby.
These individuals, acting swiftly, helped in detaining the two suspects within the hotel premises until police arrived.
When law enforcement officers from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command intervened, Bibb and Johnson initially denied any involvement with the woman or that she had been in their hotel room.
The police investigation was extensive and thorough, involving detailed analysis of CCTV footage, forensic evidence collection, and reliable witness testimonies.
Such comprehensive efforts were crucial in building a watertight case against the accused men.
Evidence gathered pointed unmistakably to their guilt, leading to both men being formally charged and subsequently pleading guilty.
They faced two counts of sexual assault by penetration.
On the 23rd of November, at Isleworth Crown Court, both Bibb and Johnson received significant sentences each was sentenced to 11 years in prison for their crimes.
The court's decision marked a decisive step in delivering justice for the victim and removing these dangerous offenders from the streets.
In a statement following the sentencing, Detective Constable Carrina Turner expressed her condemnation of Bibb and Johnson’s actions.
She emphasised that they had preyed on a vulnerable woman, subjecting her to a series of horrific, humiliating, and degrading acts.
Officer Turner reaffirmed the commitment of the police to identify and apprehend predatory sexual offenders, ensuring they do not continue to pose a risk to the community.
She also publicly commended the bravery and resilience of the victim, acknowledging her strength in navigating a lengthy and traumatic process.
While she continues to suffer from the long-term effects of her ordeal, Turner expressed hope that the victim could find some solace in the outcome of the case, knowing that her courage helped prevent future offenses.
The Metropolitan Police department reiterated its dedication to treating all allegations of sexual misconduct with seriousness and compassion.
They urged other victims to come forward, whether directly to the police or through support organisations such as The Havens or London Survivors Gateway.
Both organisations provide around-the-clock advice and support, emphasizing the importance of not suffering in silence and encouraging those affected to seek help without hesitation.
