JAKE CAIRNS AND TWO OTHERS SENTENCED IN COVENTRY FOR CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

Three men involved in the sexual exploitation and abuse of a 14-year-old girl in Coventry have been sentenced. Jake Cairns, 21, received an eight-year prison term, while Brandon Sharples, 20, and Jack McInally, 21, were both sentenced to five years each. The offenders took explicit photos of the teenager and posted an ad for her on an escort website claiming she was 18. All three men, from Coventry, were found guilty of these offences in November.

The girl was held at an address in Coventry for five days. The police investigation started after she went missing from a relative's house on June 8, 2015. During the period she was held, men visited the property and paid for sex with her over three days, with police estimating that about 20 men were involved.

She was rescued during a police raid on June 13, 2015. At the time, she was dressed only in her underwear and was attempting to escape through a first-floor window. Cairns, of Cheveral Avenue in Radford, was additionally charged with distributing indecent photographs of a child.

All three men were sentenced for their roles in arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, with Cairns also facing charges related to distributing indecent images. They were all issued 10-year sexual harm prevention orders and are mandated to register on the sex offenders register for life.

An NSPCC spokesperson highlighted the brutal exploitation of the vulnerable teenager and welcomed the sentences, emphasizing the importance of reporting concerns related to child sexual abuse.
