JACOB CORRIE SENTENCED IN CARLISLE FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING CHILDREN

On April 16, Carlisle Crown Court handed down a significant sentence to Jacob Corrie, a 31-year-old man from Carlisle, after he pleaded guilty to multiple serious sexual offences involving minors. Corrie was sentenced to a total of six years and four months in prison, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.

The charges against Corrie included nine counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, eight counts of inciting a child to participate in sexual acts, and two counts of communicating sexually with a child. These offences were committed within the Carlisle area during the years 2013 and 2014, targeting two victims who were under the age of 16 at the time.

Details of the case reveal that Corrie initially denied the allegations during police interviews. However, he later admitted to the offences, fully aware of the victims' ages when he committed these acts. The court's decision underscores the seriousness with which such crimes are regarded, especially given the vulnerability of the victims involved.

Detective Constable Rebecca Lynch, a representative of Cumberland CID, emphasized the importance of the case and the message it sends. She stated, “Corrie initially denied the offences in interview, before pleading guilty and was aware of his victims' ages when he committed the offences. We hope that this sentencing sends a clear message to survivors of sexual abuse.”

She further added, “As a force, we are committed to thoroughly and compassionately investigating all reports of rape and serious sexual offences, no matter how much time has passed.
