MAN 'ATTACKED HIS PARTNER IN A DRINK-FUELLED RAGE' AS SHE HELD THEIR BABY
A woman was terrified as her partner attacked her while she held onto their young baby, a court heard.The alleged incident happened at the family's home in Linthwaite on February 15.
Jacky Walker appeared at Kirklees Magistrates' Court and pleaded not guilty to assault by beating.
Shamalia Qureshi, prosecuting, said that a row broke out while the victim was holding their five-month-old.
She told the Huddersfield court that 34-year-old Walker grabbed her by her hair, causing her head to hit the table.
Mrs Qureshi said that the victim was 'terrified' for her son and feared that he was going to get hurt.
The attack was described as 'drink-fuelled' and she is scared of him when he is in that state, the court was told.
Walker, of Banks Road, denies any wrongdoing.
He accepts that there was a verbal altercation but claims that there was no physical contact between them.
The complainant's 999 call will be used as evidence during the bricklayer's trial.
This will take place on May 22.
In the meantime, Walker is banned from contacting his partner.
