LINTHWAITE MAN HITS WIFE IN DRUNKEN PUB ROW AFTER SHE REVEALED AFFAIR
Chris Osbourne, 57, of Manchester Road, Linthwaite, appeared before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to a charge of beating his wife, Tracie Osbourne.
The court was told that the couple, who had been married for 13 years and have two children, were drinking in the Coach and Horses pub on September 9 last year.
Prosecutor Paul Ramsay stated that the victim suffered bruising to her chin and left eye, and a cut to her lower lip that required two stitches.
Osbourne admitted in his statement: “I lost my temper.
I struck her two or three times around the head which I accept would have caused some injury to her.” The court noted that Osbourne had no prior convictions other than for driving with excess alcohol in December 2007.
His solicitor, Bob Carr, said alcohol played a part in the incident, which was prompted by his wife’s affair and her goading him.
The court sentenced Osbourne to a six-month low-level community order, with £250 costs and £50 compensation.
A 12-month restraining order was also issued, preventing any contact with Tracie Osbourne unless via solicitors, and banning him from going within 100 yards of her address.
The pair are now undergoing divorce proceedings, and the victim has since reverted to her maiden name.
