PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT ASSAULT AND CONTROL OVER PARTNER

A man named Isaiah Khan, aged 27, residing on Poulter Avenue in Stanground, Peterborough, has been sentenced to three years in prison for throwing a knife into his partner's shoulder during an argument in January 2018 at their former home. The incident involved Khan hurling a six-inch blade, which caused injuries that required stitches; her injury was initially reported as a self-inflicted accident following a slip. Despite their separation in 2019, the victim came forward two years later due to safety concerns for Khan's new partner, revealing that Khan had been physically abusive throughout their three-year relationship, including on two occasions while she was pregnant. She also reported that he controlled her finances—requiring her to pay for everything and transfer money when she received her wages—and dictated her contact with family and friends. The abuse included throwing objects such as glass bottles, mugs, mirrors, and mobile phones, leaving her with many scars. Following a trial in February, Khan was found guilty of grievous bodily harm without intent and two counts of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour, and was handed a 10-year restraining order at Cambridge Crown Court. Det Con Martina Radomska condemned his behavior, highlighting the inexcusable violence and control inflicted on the victim and praising her bravery for coming forward.
