BRISTOL AND WORCESTER OFFENDER IAN BALL JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES
In April 2014, Ian Ball, a once-respected church organist from Bristol, was sentenced to prison for a series of disturbing sexual offenses involving a young boy.Ball, who had performed recitals at Bristol Cathedral, concealed a dark secret behind his musical talents.
Court proceedings revealed that he had sexually abused a 14-year-old boy, engaging in inappropriate physical contact, including kissing and embracing the victim within the secluded loft of Bristol Cathedral.
The victim, now an adult, came forward after the Jimmy Savile scandal prompted him to report his experiences to the police.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered that Ian Ball, aged 46 at the time of sentencing and now residing in Worcester, possessed a significant collection of indecent photographs.
When his computer was examined, it was found to contain 84 images of young girls aged between ten and 13, many of which were classified as highly serious in terms of sexual content.
These findings added a disturbing layer to his criminal profile.
Ball pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault against the 14-year-old boy and also admitted to downloading seven indecent images of children.
Judge Michael Roach, presiding over the case, sentenced him to two and a half years in prison.

This order restricts Ball from unrestricted internet access and prohibits any contact with individuals under the age of 16.
Furthermore, he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Prosecutor Kenneth Bell detailed the nature of the abuse, explaining that the victim initially sought organ lessons from Ball.
The court heard that Ball showered the boy with gifts such as art and poetry books, and even shared love letters between himself and an ex-girlfriend.
The abuse escalated when Ball would hug and kiss the boy in the cathedral’s loft, and on one occasion, took him to a concert at Clifton Cathedral.
