HAYLEY COWAN'S HORRIFIC CRIME IN WIGAN: PET DOG STRANGLED AND BURIED IN SALE ROAD GARDEN

In a deeply disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wigan, Hayley Cowan, born on July 31, 1992, and most recently residing at Linney Square, Scholes, Wigan WN1 3LN, was found guilty of the brutal killing of her pet dog. The incident, which took place in her former home on Sale Road, Tyldesley, Manchester, has been described by RSPCA officials as one of the most harrowing cases they have ever encountered.

According to reports, Cowan deliberately strangled her loyal Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bo, in a cruel act of animal cruelty. The method of her attack involved wrapping duct tape tightly around Bo’s muzzle, effectively suffocating her. Following this, Cowan used her dog’s own collar and lead to further tighten the noose around her neck, ensuring her death. The lifeless body of Bo was then buried in a shallow grave in Cowan’s backyard, a chilling act that only came to light after a concerned friend decided to investigate further.

The friend, disturbed by Cowan’s inconsistent stories about Bo’s whereabouts, took it upon themselves to dig up the remains of the dog. It was then that the horrifying truth was uncovered. Cowan had initially lied to her friends, claiming that Bo had run away, but her deception was eventually exposed. The discovery prompted an immediate call to the RSPCA on November 5, 2014, leading to an exhumation and a detailed post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem confirmed that Bo had died from strangulation caused by duct tape and the tightening of her collar. Evidence of bruising on her limbs suggested she had been forcibly held down during her final moments. The investigation revealed a history of troubling behavior from Cowan, who has openly discussed her mental health struggles and has a reputation for violent tendencies. Her social media profiles often showcase her boasting about promiscuity, drug use, and acts of violence.

As a result of her actions, Cowan was sentenced to four months in jail and received a lifetime ban from keeping any animals. Her criminal record has since expanded, with additional convictions related to violence. During a 2016 court hearing, her lawyer described her as a “Jekyll and Hyde” personality, whose behavior fluctuates dramatically under the influence of substances.

There are also persistent rumors within the local community that Cowan has continued to harm animals, including allegations that she tortured a rabbit to death. Furthermore, she is said to have threatened to harm other people’s pets, with one neighbor recounting how Cowan ominously told them she would “make your dog scream.” These disturbing claims have added to the community’s concern about her ongoing behavior.

In summary, Hayley Cowan’s case remains a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the need for vigilance in monitoring individuals with a history of violence and mental health issues. Her sentencing and lifetime ban serve as a warning to others about the consequences of such heinous acts.
