BLACKBURN MAN JAILED FOR STRANGULATION AND GIVEN 15-YEAR RESTRAINING ORDER
A Blackburn man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to strangulation and receiving a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
Hayden Salton, 27, was also imposed a 15-year restraining order against his victim.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of strangulation in March but denied threatening the victim with an offensive weapon.
The hearing was adjourned initially due to conflicting accounts involving a knife, but he was eventually sentenced following a trial of issue.
The judge, Judge Phillip Parry, handed him the prison term, and a restraining order was also put in place to prevent any contact with the victim.
Salton, of Exeter Street, was due for sentencing in May, but the hearing was delayed because of the issues surrounding the weapon.
