HASSAN NISAR BRADFORD TEENAGER SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF YOUNG GIRL IN BRADFORD

In December 2020, a disturbing case emerged from Bradford involving a teenage boy who was convicted of heinous crimes against a young girl.

Hassan Nisar, then aged 19 and residing on Rooley Lane in Bradford, was found guilty of two separate counts of raping a child under the age of 13.

The incidents, which occurred several years prior, involved the abuse of a young girl, with prosecutor Soheil Khan providing detailed testimony during the proceedings at Bradford Crown Court.

Despite his denial of the charges, a jury reached a verdict of guilt in October, leading to a sentencing that took place the following day.

Judge Jonathan Gibson presided over the case and sentenced Nisar to three and a half years in a young offender institution.

The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order with no fixed end date, reflecting the seriousness of the offences.

Additionally, Nisar was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further harm.

During the sentencing, Judge Gibson addressed Nisar directly, acknowledging that he was aware of the wrongfulness of his actions.

The judge described Nisar’s conduct as “vile and disgusting,” specifically referencing the fact that he had orally raped the young girl on two separate occasions.

The judge emphasized that such behaviour was profoundly unacceptable and warranted a custodial sentence.

Representing Nisar, barrister Catherine Silverton, highlighted that her client understood the gravity of his actions and the impact they had on the victim.

She pointed out that, over the three years since the offences, Nisar had made significant efforts to turn his life around.

He was engaged in employment and had received offers from two universities, indicating a positive trajectory.

Silverton expressed hope that Nisar was now a “very different young man” with the potential to lead a constructive and law-abiding life.

However, Judge Gibson made it clear that the severity of the crimes warranted a custodial sentence.

He explained that he had adjusted the initial sentencing guidelines to account for Nisar’s age at the time of the offences and the fact that part of his sentence would be served during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, which had affected many aspects of the justice process.

Ultimately, the judge determined that a custodial sentence was necessary to reflect the gravity of the offences committed in Bradford.
