WOLVERHAMPTON NIGHTCLUB BOUNCERS HASSAN BOCKARIE AND IYOSEPH DERRY SENTENCED FOR RAPE
Two bouncers employed at a nightclub in Wolverhampton have been sentenced to prison for the crime of rape.Hassan Bockarie, 34, originally from Erdington in Birmingham, and Iyoseph Derry, aged 33 with no fixed residence, received a combined sentence of nearly 20 years after exploiting a woman in her twenties during a night out.
The incident occurred after the woman, who was attending a Christmas party for her workplace in December 2018, went to a nightclub later that evening.
Both Bockarie and Derry, working as doormen at the club, noticed her intoxication and bought her additional drinks.
They then offered to drive both women home, just after 4 a.m.
the next morning.
As trusted security personnel, the women believed they would be taken home safely.
However, after dropping one woman off at her residence, the pair drove the other woman to a flat in Birmingham instead of returning her home as promised, where they then raped her.
Although both men initially denied the allegations, a thorough investigation lasting three years was conducted by officers from the West Midlands Police Public Protection Unit.
The investigation uncovered evidence that proved their misconduct and abuse of their positions.
Bockarie claimed he had no knowledge of the woman, but forensic evidence, including DNA results linking him to the crime scene, contradicted his statement and led to a change in his account.
On Friday, February 4th, Bockarie was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to eight-and-a-half years in prison after being found guilty of rape.
Derry was also convicted of rape along with aiding and abetting in the crime, and he received a 10-year prison sentence.
