HAIDER HUSSAIN CAUGHT IN LEEDS BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS AFTER GROOMING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In January 2018, a disturbing case unfolded in Leeds involving a married man named Haider Hussain, who was apprehended after attempting to meet a girl he believed was only 14 years old.The incident was orchestrated by the vigilant paedophile hunter group known as Justice for Kids, highlighting the ongoing efforts of community groups to combat online grooming and child exploitation.
According to court proceedings at Leeds Crown Court, Hussain, aged 25 and residing on Edinburgh Grove in the Armley area, first came into contact with the girl through the popular messaging app WeChat on October 19 of the previous year.
The court was informed that Hussain had seen a photograph and profile of the girl on the platform, which prompted him to initiate communication.
Prosecutor Robert Stevenson detailed that Hussain engaged in sexual conversations with the girl, who was identified as ‘Paige,’ on both WeChat and WhatsApp.
During these exchanges, Paige explicitly stated her age was only 14, a fact Hussain was aware of but continued to pursue.
The court heard that Hussain repeatedly asked to meet her in person, demonstrating a clear intent to engage in sexual activity.
It was revealed that Hussain arranged to meet Paige on Kirkstall Road in Leeds at 11:30 am on November 18.
However, the meeting was thwarted by members of Justice for Kids, who had been monitoring the situation.
These vigilant individuals, along with an additional witness, confronted Hussain at the designated location and detained him until law enforcement officers arrived to take him into custody.
During the court hearing, it was disclosed that Hussain has a wife and a child who live abroad, and he had not disclosed his arrest to his wife.
His defense lawyer, Robin Frieze, argued that Hussain lives with his parents and claimed that he had no prior history of social media contact with females of any age.
Frieze also stated that Hussain was flattered by the attention from the girl and her apparent interest in him.
The sentencing was delivered by the Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier QC, who sentenced Hussain to a 12-month prison term, suspended for two years.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of the offense, noting that Hussain had pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a girl he believed to be 14 years old after grooming her over a month of sexualized conversations on WhatsApp.
The judge also ordered Hussain to complete an accredited group work program aimed at addressing his sexual offending behavior.
Judge Collier addressed Hussain directly, stating, “You have pleaded guilty to a serious offence, attempting to meet what you believed to be a young girl aged 14, having groomed her throughout a month’s worth of chat on WhatsApp where you had been talking in sexual terms with her in the hope that there might be some sexual activity come out of that.” He further remarked, “This was a fictional person.
You had been caught by one of these paedophile hunting groups, which seem to patrol the net these days.”
