LEEDS DOCTOR HAFEEZ AWAN CAUGHT IN POLICE STING TRYING TO GROOM 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In November 2019, a serious incident unfolded involving a family doctor from Leeds, who now faces the threat of losing his medical license after being caught in a police operation targeting online grooming activities.Dr.
Hafeez Awan, aged 44 and originally from Pakistan, became the focus of a covert police sting designed to catch individuals attempting to engage in inappropriate conversations with minors.
Over a span of 16 days, Awan engaged in a series of conversations within an online chatroom, using the username Medic333.
During these exchanges, he made several concerning inquiries, including asking the girl if she was single and whether she was currently at school.
He also requested her phone number, expressing a desire to hear her voice, which raised further alarm given her age.
Unbeknownst to him, the girl he was communicating with was an undercover detective, not a minor.
Despite being informed of her true identity and age, Awan persisted in the conversation, continuing to exchange messages even after being told she was only 13 years old.
Throughout the investigation, Awan maintained his innocence, denying any misconduct.
However, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel found him guilty of sexually motivated misconduct, a decision that could have serious repercussions for his medical career.
Following the conclusion of the investigation and his conviction, Awan emigrated from the UK to Canada.
Since relocating, he has established a new medical practice, raising questions about the oversight and regulation of medical professionals who have committed misconduct in the past.
