GRAHAM MOORE FROM WHITCHURCH FACES SERIOUS CHARGES OVER CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN TELFORD

In August 2019, a resident of Whitchurch, Graham Moore, aged 66, found himself at the center of a serious legal case concerning the possession of indecent images of a child. Moore, who resides at Pauls Moss Court in Whitchurch, appeared before Telford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 7, where he pleaded guilty to three separate charges related to the creation and possession of such images.

The charges stemmed from a police operation carried out on March 29, 2019, during which a warrant was executed at Moore’s residence in Whitchurch. During this search, law enforcement officials seized a mobile phone belonging to Moore. An examination of the device revealed that it contained a total of 12 indecent images, categorized into three severity levels: nine images classified as Category C, two as Category B, and one as Category A—the most severe classification for such material.

Further investigation into Moore’s online activity uncovered links to a Russian-based free photo-sharing website, which is known to authorities for hosting illicit content. The presence of these links raised additional concerns about the nature of his online behavior and access to illegal material.

Magistrate Nigel Atkinson addressed the court, emphasizing the gravity of the case. He stated that the matter would need to be referred to the Crown Court for sentencing, as the magistrates’ court does not possess the authority to impose a suitable penalty for such serious offenses. Magistrate Atkinson remarked, “The matter is so serious that our sentencing powers are not sufficient.”

As the case proceeds, it is scheduled to be heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court later this year. In the meantime, Moore was given an unconditional discharge, meaning he will not serve time in prison but remains under strict legal obligations. He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register and was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions aimed at preventing future offenses and protecting the community from potential harm.
