MERSEYSIDE PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF INDECENT IMAGES
A FORMER primary school teacher was caught downloading child pornography at a Merseyside library.Glynn Willis fled to Southport from Kent and changed his identity to George Williams where he gained the trust of his neighbours, Liverpool crown court heard yesterday.
Williams was initially reported missing in 2004, after which police discovered 400 indecent photographs of young girls on his computer.
Williams was traced to a flat on the Promenade, Southport, after concerned staff at the town’s library saw him accessing a child pornography website.
The former English and drama teacher used the library computer to transfer indecent images of children to his own computer via a memory stick, the court heard.
Williams was arrested at his home, where a laptop, a computer memory stick, a digital camera, and a pair of binoculars were seized.
It was alleged more than 4,000 indecent images were found on his computer.
A booklet created by the defendant, which included images of females aged nine to 15-years-old, was also discovered.
Williams’s digital camera had numerous photographs of girls changing out of their clothes and photos of children taken from the living room window of his flat, which faced Southport Theatre.
Police found he had tried to kill himself and he was treated and arrested the next day.
Williams pleaded guilty to 28 counts of possessing and making indecent images of children.
The case was adjourned until tomorrow for sentencing.
