BRADFORD PAEDOPHILE GLYNN BISHOP SENTENCED FOR NEARLY FIVE YEARS FOR ABUSE AND FILMING CHILDREN
In June 2017, Glynn Bishop, a 65-year-old man from Bradford, was sentenced to nearly five years in prison after a series of disturbing criminal acts involving children.Bishop, a pensioner residing on Howden Close in the Holme Wood area of Bradford, was found guilty of multiple serious offences related to child abuse and the possession of indecent images.
His criminal activities came to light after two victims reported their abuse to the police in November 2014.
The first victim, a boy aged between seven and nine years old, was subjected to indecent assault by Bishop on at least six occasions in Bradford between December 30, 1986, and December 29, 1989.
During this period, Bishop also took indecent photographs of the boy, further compounding the severity of his crimes.
The second victim, a girl aged between six and eight years old, was assaulted by Bishop on at least seven occasions in Bradford from June 26, 1992, to June 25, 1995.
Similar to the first case, Bishop also took indecent photographs of this girl during the abuse.
The court heard that Bishop’s actions included bathing and massaging the children, applying oil to their bodies, and taking explicit photographs and videos, some of which focused on their genitals.
One particularly disturbing video involved Bishop rubbing cream on the girl while she sat on his lap, and another captured her in a state of undress.
During the police raid on Bishop’s residence, officers discovered a collection of inappropriate items, including pairs of female underwear and a school skirt belonging to a child aged three to four years.
They also seized notebooks filled with handwritten stories and drawings, which prosecutors described as “fantasies of what he (Bishop) wanted to do to young children.” Investigators found over 1,500 indecent images on Bishop’s computer, including footage depicting the rape of a two-year-old baby.
Among the most disturbing evidence was a covert film made by Bishop in August 2013, titled ‘little girl likes spreading her legs,’ which contained footage he secretly filmed up an eight-year-old girl’s skirt while she was traveling on a bus with her grandmother.
Prosecutor David McGonigal detailed the extent of Bishop’s offending, emphasizing that his actions had caused lasting trauma to his victims.
He explained that the abuse had been uncovered when the victims approached police, leading to a thorough investigation.
Bishop’s crimes spanned several years and involved multiple forms of sexual exploitation and exploitation of children.
Judge Jonathan Rose sentenced Bishop to 57 months in prison.
In his remarks, the judge condemned Bishop’s character, stating, “You haven’t been a man of good character since 1986.
What you have been, is a predatory paedophile and someone who is a danger to children.” The judge described Bishop as an “entrenched paedophile” and highlighted the danger posed by his actions, especially noting the filming of the girl on the bus and the disturbing items found at his home.
Addressing the images and videos found on Bishop’s computer, Judge Rose remarked, “You are at the very bottom of the barrel when it comes to viewing such disgusting imagery.
You are the market for this filth.” He praised the bravery of the victims for coming forward and emphasized that Bishop’s abuse was driven by his own “perverted sexual pleasures.” The judge also pointed out the tragic reality that while Bishop had continued his life without apparent remorse, his victims had endured decades of suffering as a result of his actions.
