In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Macclesfield, Glyn Lord, also known as Glyn Fletcher, was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses involving two young girls. The trial, held at Chester Crown Court, uncovered a pattern of abuse that spanned several years and involved two separate victims.

Glyn Lord, aged 53 and residing on Nixon Street in Macclesfield, was convicted of indecently assaulting one girl when she was still in primary school. The court heard harrowing details of how he targeted her over an extended period, gradually escalating his inappropriate behavior. The jury was told that Lord had begun his assault when the girl was very young, and that she had initially viewed him as a friendly figure, often looking forward to seeing him. Prosecutor Paulinius Barnes described how Lord would manipulate the girl, encouraging her to sit on his knee and, on one occasion, lying on top of her. The young girl only fully understood the nature of these acts as she grew older, revealing the long-lasting impact of Lord’s abuse.

She recounted feeling overwhelmed and hurt when Lord pressed down on her during one incident, and she was frightened into silence by his warning that no one would believe her if she told. The court also heard that Lord exhibited aggressive behavior towards her when she refused to comply with his demands, further emphasizing the coercive nature of his actions.

The second victim, whose account was equally disturbing, testified that Lord sexually assaulted her twice on the same day. Mr. Barnes explained that Lord touched her inappropriately and then got on top of her, actions she found distressing and unacceptable. She confided in her parents, who promptly reported the incidents to the police, leading to Lord’s arrest and subsequent trial.

Recorder Eric Lamb presided over the case, which highlighted the serious breach of trust and the devastating impact of Lord’s actions on the victims.
