SOLIHULL SEX OFFENDER GLEN HINSON TRICKED TEEN INTO NUDE PHOTOS AND ABUSED YOUNG GIRLS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Solihull, Glen Hinson, a known sex offender with a long history of criminal behavior, was convicted of grooming a teenage girl and encouraging her to send explicit images under false pretenses. The incident unfolded after Hinson responded to an online advertisement placed by a 16-year-old girl on the shopping app Shpock, where she was seeking part-time work such as babysitting or dog walking. The girl, who clearly stated her age as 16 in her ad, was unaware that Hinson, aged 37 and residing on Wildmoor Road in Solihull, was fully aware of her age and had previous convictions for similar offenses.

Initially, Hinson offered her a job working at a local car boot sale on Sunday mornings for five hours, which her mother initially approved of, having no concerns about the arrangement. However, Hinson soon suggested that the girl could also do some modelling work for him, promising her the opportunity to keep clothing items as part of the deal. This proposition appeared to appeal to the teenager, leading her to accept the offer.

Subsequently, the defendant began communicating with her through messages from an alias, 'Sally,' claiming to be a representative of a modelling agency. It was later revealed that these messages were sent by Hinson himself. During these exchanges, Hinson, under the guise of the agency, asked the girl for photographs of her body, claiming he needed to verify that she met the agency’s standards and did not have any 'lumps and bumps.'

In response, the girl sent explicit photos of her naked body, including her breasts, although she was cautious and chose not to include her face in the images. The situation escalated when her mother discovered manipulative Snapchat conversations between her daughter and Hinson, which revealed that he was encouraging her to send photos every two weeks, despite her discomfort. The messages also indicated that Hinson suggested she might feel awkward but should not worry, further demonstrating his manipulative tactics.

The victim later expressed her feelings of disgust and betrayal, stating that the experience had left her feeling paranoid and constantly looking over her shoulder, as Hinson seemed to know her daily routine. She described feeling manipulated into doing something she now regrets, highlighting the profound impact of his grooming behavior.

Judge Heidi Kubic, presiding over the case at Birmingham Crown Court, sentenced Hinson to three years in prison. The judge emphasized the seriousness of his actions, stating, "You are a committed child sex offender. You took the opportunity to groom her and encourage her to undertake work for modelling. You set up a fake identity for the purpose of extracting indecent images of the young complainant."

Hinson’s criminal history is extensive. He was previously convicted in 2005 of sexually abusing three young girls, some as young as nine, over a period of five years in Solihull and Warwick. During that case, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges and was sentenced to three years in prison. The court also ordered him to register as a sex offender for life, disqualify him from working with children indefinitely, and impose a sexual harm prevention order that prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with minors.

Hinson’s past convictions include a series of sexual offenses dating back to the early 2000s, with his first known abuse occurring when his victims were as young as six and nine years old. His arrest in May of the previous year was prompted by the first victim’s mother, who reported her daughter’s disclosures about the abuse. Despite his criminal record, Hinson’s latest actions demonstrate a continued pattern of predatory behavior, causing significant concern among local authorities and residents alike.
