Gary Wolstenholme

Blackpool Sexual Abuser

March 2011 Sex offender who breached licence hands himself in to police A rapist has been arrested for breach of his licence and will be returned to prison after handing himself in to police Gary Wolstenholme, 30, left an Accrington address on Tuesday, March 15, breaching the terms of his licence and was wanted for recall to prison. The registered sex offender handed himself in to police in Blackpool on Wednesday, March 23 and will now be returned to jail. Wolstenholme was jailed for eight years in 2003 after he was convicted of raping a woman he’d met outside a nightclub in St Annes. He was released on licence in 2010 after serving seven years of his sentence. His extended licence was due to expire in 2015. May 2003 Brutal beach rapist jailed THIS is the face of a rapist who was today beginning an eight-year jail term for a brutal attack on Blackpool beach. Gary Wolstenholme’s victim, a 33-year-old married mother of five, was left so traumatised by her ordeal that she has had to move away from the resort. Now the mere sight of sand will trigger a panic attack. Wolstenholme, an habitual criminal with 75 previous convictions of Stanmore Avenue, South Shore, changed his plea to guilty at his trial earlier this week. He reappeared at Preston Crown Court yesterday when Judge Stuart Baker jailed him for eight years, plus a further 18 months for car theft, and ordered him to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life. Judge Baker described how the rapist had befriended his victim at Rumours night club by recovering her stolen handbag. Wolstenholme, 22, had offered to take her home but when she refused, he drove her to a deserted area of the beach at Starr Gate, dragged her from his car by her hair, threatened her with a brick and raped her. He then forced her to wash herself in the sea. Judge Baker told him: “It is in your character to do whatever you want, whenever you want, whether it involves violence, taking things, damaging things and behaving in a generally anti- social manner. “I regard you as being a danger to the public because of your behaving in such an uncontrollable way.”
