GARY ROSE'S BRUTAL ATTACK IN GLASGOW LEADS TO 20-MONTH JAIL SENTENCE

A man under the influence of alcohol has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after a violent assault on a woman in Glasgow, during which she was holding a two-month-old baby. The incident took place at a property in the Broomhill area of Glasgow on January 15, 2025, and has shocked the local community due to its brutality and the presence of a young child involved.

Gary Rose, aged 27, was the individual responsible for the attack. The court heard that the assault was triggered by a confrontation between Rose and the woman, which arose after she confronted him about his drinking habits. According to reports, Rose’s anger quickly escalated, leading him to physically assault the woman in a manner that caused her significant injuries.

During the attack, Rose repeatedly punched the woman, who was holding her two-month-old baby at the time. Despite her efforts to protect her child and herself, Rose’s violence intensified. At one point, he forcibly took the baby from her arms, causing further distress and danger to the infant. The woman managed to escape the property and sought safety, fleeing to a nearby location.

Following the incident, Rose was arrested by police officers who responded to the scene. They found him at the property with the baby in his arms. The woman sustained bruises to her head and a bloody nose, injuries that were documented during the investigation. It was also revealed that Rose has a prior conviction for an assault that resulted in severe injury and posed a danger to life, highlighting a troubling history of violence.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Rose pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing injury to the woman. Sheriff Andrew McIntyre sentenced him to 20 months in prison. Additionally, the court imposed a supervision order for ten months following his release, aimed at monitoring his conduct and preventing further incidents. A non-harassment order was also issued, restricting Rose’s contact with the victim for a period of 12 months to ensure her safety and peace of mind.

Prosecutor Jenny Reid described the events, stating, “[The woman] told him to get to his bed as he was drinking and trying to start an argument.” She further explained that Rose initially left the scene but returned three hours later, continuing to be “boisterous.” The court heard that during the attack, Rose punched the woman multiple times, causing her nose to bleed while she still held her child securely. The incident culminated with Rose attempting to remove the baby from her arms and force her out of the property, prompting her to seek help from the building’s concierge and contact the police.

This case underscores the ongoing issues of alcohol-fueled violence and the risks faced by vulnerable individuals, especially when children are involved. Rose’s history of violent offenses and the recent assault serve as a stark reminder of the importance of legal measures to protect victims and prevent future harm in Glasgow.
