September 2010 Maghull man collected 271 child porn pictures A MAN who collected 271 child porn pictures was ordered to attend an intensive sex offender programme. Gary Newall, 30, went to a police station claiming two indecent pictures were sent to his computer. But when officers searched the machine and his laptop, they discovered 271 images. Six of the images were category four, the second most severe level. In interview, Newall admitted he downloaded them out of “morbid curiosity” and distributed them to a small circle of people. At Liverpool crown court yesterday, he pleaded guilty to six charges of making indecent images. But Judge Mark Brown spared Newall, of Manor House Close, Maghull, prison after learning it was more than three-and-a-half years since he was arrested. He said: “This must be one of the worse cases in terms of time delay.” The judge also took into consideration the fact Newall went for counselling and had not re-offended. Newall received a three-year community order with supervision and was ordered to attend a sex offender programme.
