GARETH PATRICE FROM BRADFORD SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN MARSH

Gareth Patrice, a 26-year-old man residing on Smiths Avenue in Marsh, Bradford, has been handed down a two-year community order following a violent incident involving his partner. The court proceedings revealed that Patrice will be under supervision by the probation service for the next 24 months and is required to participate in an integrated domestic abuse programme as part of his sentencing conditions.

Patrice, who has a prior conviction for wounding with intent, was charged after an assault on Emma Jennings in May of the previous year. The incident took place during a heated argument, and the details presented in court painted a disturbing picture of the violence inflicted. Prosecutor Ken Green described how, during the altercation, Ms. Jennings attempted to leave the scene after gathering her belongings. However, Patrice responded aggressively by punching her in the face, which caused her to fall and be dragged behind a sofa. The assault escalated further when he reportedly placed his hands around her neck and kicked her on the side of her head.

Despite the severity of the attack, Ms. Jennings managed to escape from the situation and ran to her neighbour’s house for safety. The court was informed that Patrice pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault, even though the victim did not attend the trial. The judge emphasized the seriousness of domestic violence, highlighting that such acts cause not only physical injury but also significant emotional trauma, fear, and distress to victims. The case underscores the ongoing issue of domestic abuse within communities like Bradford and the importance of holding offenders accountable to protect vulnerable individuals.
