FRED MALLINSON FROM YORK SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES
A man aged 62, residing in York, has been handed an 18-month prison sentence that has been suspended, following his admission to downloading indecent images of children. The images included some depicting children as young as six years old.
The case came to light after authorities conducted a raid on Fred Mallinson’s residence in July of the previous year.
During the search, investigators uncovered hundreds of illicit images, highlighting the severity of his offenses.
In court proceedings, the judge took into account Mallinson’s expressions of remorse and his previously good character, which influenced the sentencing decision.
As part of the punishment, Mallinson was subjected to a period of supervision to monitor his conduct moving forward.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued against him, aiming to prevent any future offenses and protect the community from potential harm.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about the distribution and possession of illegal images of minors, and the importance of law enforcement efforts in tackling such crimes.
Mallinson’s case serves as a reminder of the legal consequences faced by individuals involved in the possession of child exploitation material, even when the offenses are admitted and remorse is expressed.
