FRANKY MILLS FROM WOKING SENTENCED FOR CRUEL CAT SHOOTINGS IN GUILDFORD AND GODOALMING

Franky Jay Mills, also known as Franky Webb, born on May 18, 1997, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous acts involving the shooting of domestic cats in the Woking area, with links to nearby Godalming and Farncombe. His most recent known address was on Gloster Road, Woking GU22 9EU, but investigations revealed that he traveled extensively through the Cranleigh and Guildford regions during the spring of 2016.

Over the course of March and April 2016, Mills, a known traveller, was involved in a disturbing campaign of animal cruelty that shocked the local community. Using a high-powered air rifle valued at around £5,000, Mills and an unidentified accomplice targeted at least eight pet cats. The attacks resulted in severe injuries to the animals, with one succumbing to its wounds. The injuries inflicted included the loss of eyes, the amputation of a leg, and a bisected spleen, highlighting the brutal nature of these crimes.

The court proceedings revealed that Mills was not acting alone but was part of a joint enterprise. He was observed driving around the Cranleigh and Guildford areas, during which he allowed another individual to shoot at the cats with the air rifle. The investigation uncovered that Mills was the owner of the vehicle used during these incidents and possessed the firearm involved. Evidence was so conclusive that authorities exhumed one of the cats to retrieve a pellet that matched Mills' rifle, confirming his direct involvement.

During the court hearing, Mills pleaded guilty to 14 charges, which included seven counts of criminal damage exceeding £5,000 and seven counts of firearm possession. The court heard that Mills' actions caused immense suffering to the animals and emotional trauma to their owners, many of whom were children. The injuries inflicted were graphic and devastating, with some cats having to be euthanized due to the severity of their wounds.

Judge Jonathan Black addressed Mills directly, emphasizing that he was the driver who stopped the vehicle and permitted the shooting to occur, thus playing a significant role in the crimes. The judge described the acts as a joint effort, with Mills providing the vehicle, the firearm, and the ammunition, thereby making him equally culpable as the person who pulled the trigger. The judge condemned the cruelty and callousness of the acts, noting the high level of suffering caused and the lasting trauma inflicted on the victims and their families.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Black sentenced Mills to 24 months in prison. The court did not specify any additional bans or restrictions following his release. Post-sentencing, Sergeant Paul Eden, who led the investigation, stated that Mills was not acting alone and that others involved in the shootings had yet to be identified. He confirmed that Mills was the owner of the vehicle used and the firearm, and that evidence such as the pellet matching his rifle was crucial in establishing his guilt.

Sergeant Eden explained that Mills was aware of what his passengers were doing and had facilitated the shootings by stopping the vehicle and providing the weapon. This, he argued, made Mills as responsible as the individual who pulled the trigger, underlining the seriousness of his involvement in these cruel acts. The case has drawn widespread condemnation from the community and animal welfare advocates, highlighting the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for such disturbing cruelty.
