FRANCIS DUNCAN FROM WREXHAM SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DARK WEB SCANDAL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wrexham, a 67-year-old man named Francis Anthony Duncan has been convicted of possessing an extensive collection of child abuse images, some of the most heinous and disturbing ever uncovered.

The incident came to light in September when police officers arrived at his residence, located in the Wern area of Caia Park, Wrexham, and questioned him about illegal material found on his devices.

During the police investigation, Duncan admitted that there might be illegal images present, acknowledging his involvement with the material.

A subsequent search of his home revealed a staggering collection of nearly 30,000 photographs and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children, including infants as young as six months old.

These images were not only graphic but also showed children restrained and subjected to abuse by other paedophiles, highlighting the severity of the crimes involved.

Further examination uncovered that Duncan had employed sophisticated software that enabled him to browse the internet anonymously and access the so-called 'Dark Web,' a hidden part of the internet often used for illicit activities.

This technology allowed him to connect with other individuals involved in sharing and posting illegal content, making the investigation more complex and alarming.

At Mold Crown Court, the prosecution detailed the extent of Duncan’s illegal activities.

The prosecutor emphasized that Duncan’s actions were deeply disturbing, with some images showing children tied up and being abused, which caused significant distress to those involved in creating such material.

The judge, David Hale, described Duncan as 'irredeemable,' condemning his actions and the harm inflicted upon the victims depicted in the images.

Judge Hale expressed his outrage, stating, “People have suffered in the making of these images, wherever in the world they were made, just for your titillation.” He further condemned Duncan, telling him, “You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

You are almost an irredeemable addict looking at this material.” The judge’s comments underscored the gravity of the case and the moral reprehensibility of Duncan’s conduct.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Duncan had breached previous court orders by continuing to possess file-sharing software and browsers that facilitated anonymous searches.

These breaches demonstrated a continued pattern of illegal activity despite prior restrictions.

In court, Duncan pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including making and possessing indecent images of children across categories A, B, and C, possessing prohibited images, and possessing extreme images involving bestiality.

He also admitted to two charges of breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Hale sentenced Duncan to 32 months in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life.

The sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in such activities.

Duncan’s case has once again highlighted the importance of vigilance and enforcement in combating child exploitation and online abuse, especially within communities like Wrexham where such heinous crimes have been uncovered.
