EX-NORFOLK POLICE OFFICER JAILED FOR SEX WITH VULNERABLE WOMAN
A man formerly serving as a police family liaison officer has been sentenced to prison after engaging in sexual activities with a woman who was under his support. The 58-year-old, Forbes Scott, was employed by Norfolk Police when he began a relationship with the woman shortly after her husband died in 2011.
In July 2024, Scott pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office, leading to his conviction.
The court heard that Scott, who lived on George Drive in Drayton, near Norwich, would often visit the woman’s home late at night, sometimes dressed in police uniform.
His misconduct extended to having sexual relations with her and sending her explicit selfies.
Judge Martyn Levett commented that Scott’s victim was in a vulnerable state and was exploited by his actions.
It was also noted that she later attempted to take her own life.
Scott’s arrest came in September 2023, and he was sentenced to 22 months behind bars.
Norfolk’s Chief Constable, Paul Sanford, issued a strong condemnation of Scott’s behaviour, stressing the victim’s vulnerability and describing his misconduct as an abuse of his police authority.
Sanford added, 'This reprehensible conduct has no place in law enforcement, and our investigation and subsequent sentencing should reassure the public that we take such offences seriously, even if they occurred years ago.'
