FARUQUE AHMED FROM STOKE SENTENCED IN BLACK COUNTRY FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SISTERS DURING HOME TUTORING

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Faruque Ahmed, an Islamic tutor residing in Stoke, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of sexually abusing two young girls during private home study sessions. The abuse took place at the family’s residence in Warley, within the Black Country, where Ahmed was employed to teach Arabic to the sisters, who were between the ages of eight and 12 at the time.

According to court records and police reports, Ahmed conducted these lessons over a span of two years, specifically between 2009 and 2011. The sessions typically lasted around two hours and were held every Saturday and Sunday. What appeared to be routine educational sessions concealed a horrifying pattern of sexual misconduct, with Ahmed repeatedly assaulting the girls underneath the marble dining room table, which served as the setting for their lessons.

The victims, who kept their ordeal largely to themselves, only disclosed the abuse after years of silence. It was not until September 8, 2016, that one of the girls confided in an NHS mental health nurse about the abuse she had endured. The following day, a specially trained Public Protection Officer from West Midlands Police interviewed the now 18-year-old girl and uncovered the full extent of Ahmed’s misconduct.

The young woman revealed that Ahmed, who was then living in Stoke, would often touch her between the legs, pulling her trousers around her knees. She also described how he threatened her with physical punishment, specifically mentioning that he would strike her with a bamboo cane if she resisted his advances. Additionally, she explained how Ahmed would subtly manipulate the seating arrangement by shuffling the girls’ chairs closer together, making it easier for him to carry out the inappropriate contact without detection.

Faruque Ahmed was arrested on February 10, 2017. During police interviews, he admitted to tutoring the girls but denied any sexual assault. Despite his denial, the police charged him with multiple counts of sexual touching and sexual assault of a child by penetration. The case proceeded to Wolverhampton Crown Court, where, on November 23, Ahmed was convicted on 10 out of 13 counts against him. The court sentenced him to 14 years in prison.

In addition to his prison sentence, Ahmed was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which prohibits him from working with children for the rest of his life. He will also be registered as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing him from reoffending. The case has prompted renewed calls from West Midlands Police for victims or anyone with information about similar incidents to come forward and seek support, emphasizing the importance of breaking the silence surrounding such abuse.
