September 2010 Paedophile is jailed for sex offences and porn images A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for eight years for sexually abusing a young boy and having indecent images of children stored on his computer. Emlyn Hayes’ victim, who was aged seven when the abuse began, told the authorities about it after self-harming himself and breaking down in front of a friend. Hayes, of Wilsthorpe Road, Chaddesden, told police he had searched for pornographic images of children on the computer and had “felt excited” by them. Derby Crown Court heard Hayes had images and films ranging from category one to five – the most extreme. Keith Raynor, for the prosecution, said there were 120 indecent images on Hayes’ computer, of which 12 had been deleted. The court heard Hayes had stopped looking at the images about a year before he was arrested. Hayes admitted indecency with a child, indecent assault of a child, rape, two charges of sexual assault and two counts of attempted rape. He also pleaded guilty to nine charges of making indecent photographs of a child and five charges of possessing them, between December 2004 and March 2010. He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life and disqualified from working with children. He must also abide by a sex offenders’ prevention order, which includes not being on his own with any person under the age of 16.
