EMILY HEDIGAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN LEEDS AND BRAMLEY
A woman identified as Emily Hedigan, aged 21, from Broadlea Grove in Bramley, Leeds, has been formally convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous crimes involving a young boy.The investigation into her actions was carried out by specialized safeguarding officers based in Leeds, who uncovered disturbing evidence of her misconduct.
Hedigan appeared before Leeds Crown Court on February 29, where she pleaded guilty to eight separate charges.
These charges included causing or inciting a boy under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, sexually touching a child under 13, and the creation, distribution, and possession of indecent images of a child.
Additionally, she was found to be in possession of cocaine, which added to the severity of her sentencing.
The case came to light after police were alerted on January 29 of the current year.
The alert was triggered when an individual obtained Hedigan’s mobile phone and discovered explicit images of the young boy on her device.
This discovery prompted a thorough investigation, during which expert digital forensic investigators examined her phone.
Their analysis revealed multiple videos and still images depicting Hedigan engaging in sexual abuse of the child on several occasions.
Further digital investigations uncovered that Hedigan had been actively sending these illicit images to a man located elsewhere in the country.
It was established that she exchanged these images for money, indicating a disturbing element of commercial exploitation and distribution.
During police interviews, Hedigan admitted to the offences but claimed that she had been acting under duress, suggesting she was pressured into providing the images.
Despite her claims, the court found her actions to be serious and reprehensible.
On sentencing, Leeds Crown Court handed Hedigan a total prison term of four years and eight months.
The court also ordered that she be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life, reflecting the gravity of her crimes.
Additionally, she was issued a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions aimed at preventing further harm and ensuring public safety.
