WIRRAL SPORTS COACH JAILED FOR ABUSE AND BULLYING AT SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL
A sports coach named Elliot Millar was found to have engaged in highly inappropriate and abusive behavior while working at a special educational needs school. His actions included slapping pupils, placing children in headlocks, drawing a penis on a child's face, and threatening a staff member by throwing a punch and narrowly missing her.
These incidents were captured on secret footage by undercover journalist Sasha Hinde, and later aired on a BBC Panorama documentary, which was handed over to the police.
At Liverpool Magistrates' Court, it was revealed that Millar was appointed to his position following a very informal interview and without proper training.
Judge James Hatton described Millar's conduct as 'hideously inappropriate' and 'nothing short of bullying,' emphasizing that he was in a position of trust that he breached multiple times.
Millar admitted to four counts of assault and threatening behavior, and was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail.
The court noted his remorse, vulnerability, diagnosed ADHD, and recent personal tragedies, but reiterated that his actions were unacceptable and that only immediate custody could serve as adequate punishment.
