ELLIANA EDE FROM CROYDON WALKS FREE AFTER SHARING 'DISGUSTING' IMAGES OF YOUNG GIRLS IN 2017
In November 2017, Elliana Ede, a part-time nanny from Croydon, was handed a community order after admitting to making indecent images of children as young as one.Ede-Borrett, aged 23 at the time, shared these images via Dropbox with her then-partner from Sunderland.
She pleaded guilty to three counts of creating indecent images of a child.
The court was told she produced a total of 47 images, including 12 of the most serious category.
The images included 12 category A, 18 category B, and 17 category C photographs, created between September 23, 2015, and May 3, 2016.
Importantly, investigations found no link between these images and the children in Ede-Borrett’s care.
District Judge Stephen Dawson explained that due to the 'unique' circumstances of the case, a custodial sentence was not appropriate.
The court heard that Ede-Borrett had formed an online relationship with a man from Sunderland, who, without any criminal charges, coerced her into sharing images via Dropbox.
Prosecutor Peter Lancaster stated: “Around 2015 she met a man from Sunderland on the internet and got into a relationship with him.
She downloaded images onto Dropbox, and he accessed and viewed them, often discussing and masturbating over the images.” Ede-Borrett was arrested on May 3, 2016, during a police raid on her residence in Stockwell, where officers seized a Samsung tablet and phone containing indecent images, both of which were forfeited.
Judge Dawson commented that Ede-Borrett appeared to have been used by the man she was involved with and that he had likely arranged the setup to shield himself from detection.
He stated: “She was being used by the looks of it, and even if the man had been caught, he had managed to set things up to protect himself.” Because of her vulnerability and the circumstances, the judge believed that a custodial sentence would not serve the public or her best interest.
She was sentenced to a 60-day community order, which will run concurrently, including a rehabilitation program with weekly appointments.
Additionally, Ede-Borrett was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for five years, pay £100 in court costs, and an £85 victim surcharge.
Earlier in September 2017, Ede-Borrett, then aged 22, had admitted to making dozens of indecent images of young girls, some as young as one year old.
The prosecutor at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court confirmed her guilty pleas to three counts of making indecent photographs, with the images ranging across categories A, B, and C, involving victims believed to be between one and six years old.
Ede-Borrett was released on bail, with restrictions not to contact any children under 16 without parental or guardian knowledge, and her sentencing was scheduled for October 27.
