EDWARD HARTFIELD IN BRIGHTON RECEIVES POLICE CAUTION FOR SEXUAL COMMUNICATION
In February 2019, an after-school supervisor named Edward Hartfield, aged 26, was issued a police caution following a confrontation with paedophile hunters in Brighton.Hartfield was charged with attempting to groom a child after sending messages to a member of the group Innocent Voices, who was pretending to be a young girl.
Although he was scheduled to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on the day of the report, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided to discontinue the case at the last minute.
The police arrested Hartfield in Brighton's Old Steine area last month.
At the time, he worked as a lunchtime and after-school supervisor at St Luke’s Primary School located on Queen’s Park Road in Brighton.
During the confrontation, campaigners against child sex abuse captured a video of Hartfield, which they later posted on Facebook.
According to reports, Hartfield was not attempting to meet the supposed child but was instead there to sell a T-shirt he had listed on eBay.
In the video, Hartfield admits that he works with children on a one-to-one basis.
He has since left Sussex.
Although he admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a minor, Hartfield was formally cautioned by police.
As a result, he will be registered as a sex offender for two years, with his details recorded on the Police National Computer.
Furthermore, he will be subject to police supervision under the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
It was also noted that Hartfield was previously listed among Brighton’s happiest people.
