DYLON SMITH FROM DUNFERMLINE INVOLVED IN SEX OFFENDER AND ASSAULT CASES IN ST ANDREWS AND DUNDEE

A man identified as Dylan Smith, aged 36, hailing from Dunfermline, has been at the center of a series of troubling incidents that have drawn significant attention from law enforcement authorities. Smith, who is registered as a sex offender and was subject to a tagging order, disappeared for more than two weeks following a chaotic birthday gathering at his residence in Dunfermline. The event, which took place on Macbeth Road, was marred by distressing discussions about his past sexual offenses, leading to a violent and disruptive scene inside his home.

According to reports, Smith claimed that he left the party because he feared for his safety amid heated exchanges that turned physical. Witnesses say that the conversations about his previous offenses became intense and aggressive, prompting him to exit the premises abruptly. After leaving, Smith spent over two weeks sleeping rough in Edinburgh, before eventually returning to his Dunfermline residence.

His criminal history includes a conviction from April 26 of the previous year, when he was found guilty of making repeated sexual remarks to a female at St Andrews University’s St Regulus Hall without her consent. This incident led to his placement on the sex offenders register for a period of five years. The details of the case reveal that Smith approached the woman in the Auld Burn Park area in St Andrews, where he made explicit sexual comments that caused her significant distress. Bystanders intervened to assist her as Smith’s behavior escalated.

During his arrest, police officers encountered Smith in a visibly intoxicated state, with blood on his hands. He reacted violently, kicking PC Daniel Strandberg in the head and continuing to be disruptive. He punched a door and issued threats, including explicit language directed at a woman. His conduct during the arrest was described as aggressive and threatening.

Smith’s behavior did not end there. In court, he admitted to breaching a March-imposed order, which was intended to restrict his movements and behavior. His defense argued that his disappearance was a reaction to the distress caused by the discussions at his birthday party. Sheriff Susan Duff considered his absence as a minor setback, describing it as a “blip,” and decided to continue the existing order. Smith is scheduled to return for a review hearing on July 9.

Further details reveal that Smith’s misconduct extended to other locations in St Andrews, including Queen’s Terrace and Queen’s Gardens. The incidents involved sexually inappropriate remarks and aggressive conduct, which prompted police intervention. In Dundee, Smith faced additional charges when he was detained by officers after his violent outburst. During the arrest, he kicked PC Daniel Strandberg in the head, an act that resulted in injury and heightened the severity of his case.

At Dundee Sheriff Court, Smith was sentenced to a restriction of liberty order, requiring him to remain indoors from 7 pm to 5 am for a period of 108 days. Additionally, he was placed under 16 months of supervision. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of his actions and the ongoing concern regarding his conduct in the community.
