TEENAGER JAILED FOR RAPING SLEEPING WOMAN AFTER PARTY

A teenager who raped a 23-year-old woman while she was asleep has been sentenced to five years in prison.Dylan Nisbet, aged 19, from Motherwell, was convicted of the rape at the High Court in Glasgow in August. His victim, a woman she did not know previously, was assaulted after a 21st birthday party on 20 May last year.Witnesses described the woman as "hysterical and crying," and one noted her terrified screams resembled something out of a horror movie.During sentencing, the judge, Lord Mulholland, stated: "You were found guilty by a jury of raping a young woman whom you had not met before that night. A young woman who had shown you no interest whatsoever, was asleep, and you exploited her situation to have sexual intercourse with her." The court also ordered Nisbet to be placed on the sex offenders register.The woman recounted seeing Nisbet having sex with her when she woke up in a house in Newarthill, North Lanarkshire. She shouted at him to leave, describing the experience as "the worst thing that has ever happened to me." Nisbet claimed that their encounter was consensual, but his victim strongly denied this, calling his account "an absolute lie." Additionally, Nisbet was acquitted of a separate charge of raping a 15-year-old girl in a park in Motherwell on 9 June last year, with the court ruling the charge as "not proven." His defense lawyer stated that Nisbet had been assessed as a low risk of reoffending.
