September 2023 Paedophile changes gender before court case A paedophile caught with indecent images of children was prosecuted under a male name but now identifies as a woman, a court was told. Tree surgeon Dominic Carter “wrestled” with police while under arrest to try to stop officers from taking away a phone that yielded crucial evidence. Carter, of Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, was found to be in possession of indecent photos of children after two phones were seized. Category A images, which are the most severe kind were amongst his vile collection But a sentencing hearing at Southampton Crown Court was told that despite being a man when arrested, Carter now goes by the name Sophie Carter. Carter attended court dressed in a pink T-shirt, pink shorts and wearing pink nail polish. Carter admitted three counts of making indecent images of children in relation to an incident on April 3 2021. Judge Nicholas Rowland told Carter: “The reason that children around the world are subject to abuse and it is filmed is because people seek gratification. “People like you get gratification from looking at those images.” Carter, who has five convictions for six past offences, was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and must complete 60 rehabilitation activity requirement sessions and 120 hours of unpaid work. She must also register as a sex offender and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years. A deprivation order was made for the two seized phones.
