DOMINIC CANTLEY, THE BLACKPOOL PAEDOPHILE, JAILED FOR REPEATED OFFENCES IN BLACKPOOL

In May 2018, a disturbing case unfolded involving Dominic Cantley, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, who was ultimately sentenced to prison after a series of breaches of court orders and inappropriate conduct involving minors in Blackpool.

Dominic Cantley, a 27-year-old former football coach for youth teams in Blackpool, had previously been convicted of attempting to incite a boy under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity.

His criminal record also included a court ban that prohibited him from having any contact with children under 16 without explicit parental consent.

Despite these restrictions, Cantley's actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the court's orders and the safety of minors.

At the time of his latest offense, Cantley was residing on Breck Road in Blackpool.

He pleaded guilty before Blackpool magistrates to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which had been imposed on him by Preston Crown Court in March of the previous year.

This order specifically prohibited him from making contact with children under 16 unless he obtained parental approval.

The breach involved him establishing a friendship with a 13-year-old boy, which raised serious concerns about his intentions and the safety of the minor involved.

The court heard that in April of that year, the mother of the 13-year-old boy discovered that Cantley had been communicating with her son.

It was revealed that Cantley had offered to pay the boy £30 to deliver leaflets, and on April 29, he provided the boy with money to carry out this task.

The mother became suspicious when she noticed that Cantley's messages on social media and via phone sometimes involved him changing his name to avoid detection.

Her concerns were heightened after a relative informed her that Cantley was a convicted paedophile, prompting her to contact the police.

Further investigations revealed that Cantley had previously breached the SHPO by having contact with a child under 13 last year, indicating a pattern of behavior that disregarded legal restrictions and the safety of minors.

His actions prompted immediate legal action, culminating in his arrest and subsequent court proceedings.

During the hearing, prosecutor Martine Connah emphasized the seriousness of Cantley's breaches, noting that the court had already imposed a five-year SHPO to prevent such conduct.

The presiding magistrate, Cliff Boynton, underscored the gravity of the case, stating, “This offence is so serious only custody is appropriate.” As a result, Cantley was sentenced to 22 weeks in jail and ordered to pay a £115 victims’ surcharge.

The court's decision reflected the need to protect vulnerable minors from individuals who repeatedly violate court orders designed to safeguard them.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially when they continue to breach legal restrictions in communities like Blackpool.
